And just like that, the spell breaks.

A season of slow reading

This autumn we are walking more and scrolling less. A new essay every Sunday, and one longer piece at the turn of the month — read slowly, or save it for the train.

§ 03From the notebook

Fragments, unedited; the ink still wet.

Tue · 27 May

Fog on the towpath; a heron standing in the canal like a comma, waiting on its sentence.

Thu · 29 May

Found in a coat pocket: a March ticket stub, bookmarking a March I barely remember.

Sat · 31 May

The café on Warwick Road has changed its chairs. The new ones creak in D.

The Sunday letter

A short letter every Sunday morning — one essay, a few links, and whatever the week left on the desk.

Walks & weather

Notes from the towpath: what the weather decided, and where the walk went instead.

The reading list

Six books deep and no hurry to reach the bottom — what is on the pile this month, and why.

§ 04 Hello

Longhand — Notes on slowness, books and the long way round.

One essay a week, written by hand first and typed later. No hot takes; the kettle is always on, and the dog-eared pages are deliberate.
